BANDSAW BLADE EDUCATION

To choose a bandsaw blade, first start with what you are cutting, Wood or Metal? When cutting wood you will want to decide if you are cutting straight cuts or radius cuts. In general, it is recommended to use the widest blade your saw will allow and for radius cuts you will want a 3/4″ width or below, depending on the radius you want to achieve.

Wood Cutting – We carry 3 styles of wood cutting bandsaw blades. Proforce, Shear Force and the Resaw King.

Proforce – Direct from Sweden, our Proforce blade stock is the finest on the market. You will immediately notice the difference in quality and precision with the Proforce. The Proforce is an affordable blade without compromising the cut. 

Shear Force – Made in the USA, the Shear Force blade is compatible with nearly every bandsaw. Manufactured with an ultra-thin .024″ backing and alternating 3-4 TPI it ensures a smoother cut and significantly reduced vibration. This blade is a specialty blade that not only works on wood but works great on cardboard, meats with bone, frozen meats, hard foams and soft plastics 

Resaw King – The Resaw King is perhaps the world’s finest resawing blade. Manufactured with C4 carbide teeth, this blade allows you to cut ultra-smooth, wafer-thin veneers with minimal waste. Woodworkers demanding the best will be impressed. The triple vari-tooth design minimizes vibration and lowers harmonics. How to Choose the Correct Number of Teeth Per Inch (TPI) The number of teeth per inch (TPI) is important in obtaining the finish desired and the proper feed rate. A coarse tooth blade (2, 3 TPI) should be used for re-sawing wood and cutting thicker stock up to 8″ thick. A fine toothed blade (18 to 32 TPI) should be used for thinner metals and plastics under 1/4″. For general cutting of 3/4″ plywood 4 TPI will provide a fast cut and 14 TPI will cut much slower but leave a smooth finish on the cut. When Selecting TPI Remember:

More TPI gives a smoother but slower cut.

Fewer TPI allows for a faster cut with a slightly rougher cut surface.

Should have at least 3 teeth and less than 12 teeth in the work piece.
